Worcester is drawn as a rise and a fall. It starts almost at the ground line, builds to two plain slabs in the middle, and comes down again into a church at the far right whose twin spires are the only symmetrical thing in it.
What is in the drawing
An arched bridge opens the far left, low and long. A gabled block with a small tower stands behind it, then a hall carrying a slim spire off its ridge. The line climbs into two tall slabs at the center, the higher one stepped back at the top and the other cut with a narrow notch. A block under a peaked crown follows, then a stepped tower and a gabled roof, and the right closes on a church front with two pointed spires standing either side of a gable.
Mug or canvas
At 2.346 to 1 the drawing goes right around a mug. Ink is 0.056, toward the light end, which suits a picture whose interest is in outline rather than fill. The twin spires are thin, and they are usually the reason somebody buys this, so if the church is the point then 24 by 16 on canvas is the floor rather than the ceiling.
