Albany puts its ornament in the middle and leaves both ends plain, which is the reverse of how most drawings in this range are arranged. The towers at either side are close to featureless. Everything the eye stops on sits between them.
What is in the drawing
Two tall slabs open the left, the nearer one cut with a long notch down its face and the further one plain to the top. A low block sits between their feet. Past them the line climbs a tower topped by a rounded cap set on a short neck, then drops to a flat-topped slab. The center is a wide front with a dome over an arcade, drawn as a run of round-headed openings under a heavy cornice, and a small tented roof sits to one side of it with a clock tower and a pointed cap on the other. A row of gables steps down from there, and two more flat-topped slabs close the right with a low block between them.
Mug or canvas
This measures 2.444 to 1. Anything over 2.14 travels the whole way round a mug, and here the join lands behind the handle. Coverage is 0.066 and nearly all of it is packed into the arcade at the middle, which is the first thing a small print loses. Go to 24 by 16 or larger on canvas and those arches stay separate instead of closing into a band.
